'He didn't anticipate that the team were well fuelled on coffee'
A suspected dealer was found with £11,000 worth of Class A drugs and cash after being 'rugby tackled' in a park by police.
Officers from the Hyndburn Taskforce Team were on patrol in Accrington's Bullough Park on Tuesday afternoon when they spotted the 'unlucky individual'. Police said the suspect 'decided to try his luck attempting to outrun the officers'. However, they said 'he didn't anticipate that the team were well fuelled on coffee'. He was eventually rugby tackled near the playground and found to be in possession of drugs and cash.In a statement on Facebook today, a force spokesperson said: "Yesterday afternoon, the Hyndburn Taskforce Team have arrested and Remanded a Mr David Pye at Bullough Park, Accrington. The unlucky individual has been sighted by Taskforce and decided to try his luck attempting to outrun the officers.
"Unfortunately for him, he didn't anticipate that the team were well fuelled on coffee and after a short foot chase, the David Pye was eventually rugby tackled near to the playground. When Pye was searched, officers have found in his possession over £11,000 in Class A drug's and a large quantity of cash.
"The Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team will not tolerate drug dealing, especially in our parks and we'll continue to actively target those involved in crime. Keep your eyes peeled for similar activity coming soon."
