There are definitely lessons we can learn from Sven’s final struggle
In one sense, Sven-Göran Eriksson has led a charmed life. He has operated at the very highest level in his chosen career, he has enjoyed great success and has earned. He has lived and loved , and been loved by those who knew him, and worked with him. But for all his professional achievements, and the private vicissitudes, nothing in his life has become dear old Sven like the manner of his leaving it.with incurable pancreatic cancer, and that he had “best case a year” to live.
In this respect, too, you could say that Sven is lucky. He has been afforded the time to assimilate his life, to reconcile himself with death, and has been able to share his reflections on mortality. “Hopefully at the end people will say, yeah, he was a good man, but everyone will not say that,” he says, recognising the pain he may have caused others along the way.
