The family of a man who died during the swim section of the Swansea triathlon have paid tribute to a"loving husband, father and grandfather".His family said in a statement they were"heartbroken" but"comforted by the many messages of condolence and support we have received".
Mr Ireland was a"keen cyclist and triathlete", his family said. He was a member of Tondu Wheelers cycling club and a regular participant in parkrun events.His family went on to thank the emergency services, event organisers, volunteers and members of the public who helped him at the scene.A total of 1,500 participants were expected to take part in the University of Wales Trinity Saint David Swansea Triathlon at the weekend.
