Police Chief William McManus said the 52-year-old man was out on parole when he violated parole and allegedly committed other crimes.
SAN ANTONIO — A 52-year-old child sexual assault suspect who violated his parole was shot dead by San Antonio SWAT officers who were trying to apprehend him before being fired upon, authorities say.
"SWAT went down, understanding that this individual was probably dangerous based on some statements he made," McManus said."They called him out to surrender. Instead of doing that, he came out shooting." Officials said the man committed other crimes while out on parole, including domestic violence, burglary of a habitation and evading arrest. He hasn't yet been identified. KENS 5 has brought numerous firsts to South Texas television, including being the first local station with a helicopter, the first with its own Doppler radar and the first to air a local morning news program.
