SWEDEN'S Government is rushing through a new emergency coronavirus law after a spike in deaths over the weekend.

The liberal nation has so far shunned the tougher approaches of most of its neighbours, refusing to order pubs, restaurants and schools to close. "We believe that the provisions currently available under the infectious diseases law are not sufficiently powerful," she told the country's TT newswire.
