Among the thousand plus well-wishers gathered to greet King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Australian War Memorial on Monday was nine-year-old alpaca, Hephner, in a suit with a crown.
This is the heartwarming moment King Charles met Hephner the impeccably-dressed Alpaca during his royal walkabout in Canberra.
And Hephner's patience paid off. On a 30-minute walk to greet the crowds, Charles stopped to pat the alpaca. Hephner, named in honour of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, waited for hours alongside owner Robert Fletcher and long lines of others for the chance to greet the royal coupleHephner had a regal look with a gold crown on his head as well as a suit and bow-tie
The royal couple received huge cheers as they walked 200 metres from the Australian War Memorial Council Member and Australian Army Veteran, 'Aunty' Lorraine Hatton. Camilla was wearing white silk crepe court dress by Anna Valentine and a diamond and pearl brooch from the late Queen Mother. The King stepped forward to place a poppy alongside the name of Private William Punch an Aboriginal Australian tasked with manual work at the front who died in 1917 after being shot.
