The loss of phone and internet services are having a major impact on health clinics, cafes, Uber drivers and other businesses, as well as those working from home.
Sydney businesses and healthcare services have been brought to a halt on Wednesday morning due to a major Optus outage affecting phone lines and internet services.
Ramsay Health Care, which operates 73 private hospitals and day surgeries across Australia, informed patients via Facebook that they would need to use online contact forms to get in touch. “I had to find out searching on the internet, didn’t send a notice, message or email,” he said.Uber drivers and users were also affected, unable to use the app due to the outage. Cab company 13Cabs is also unable to receive calls due to the outage.On Wednesday morning, users flocked to Surry Hills Library in Sydney’s inner city to utilise their Wi-Fi, with people seen sitting outside the building to use their phones.
