Held in a prison block-turned-theatre at the National Art School, it sometimes seemed like the mayor was on trial. Independent candidate Sue Ritchie, who owns the Beacham Hotel in Darlinghurst, said there were "quick and effective" initiatives the council could use to bring more people to the area immediately.
"It will be a buffer between the traffic and cafes and encourage outdoor dining on Oxford Street, so it becomes a place for people, rather than a traffic sewer," Cr Moore said. "I do believe that there hasn't been enough consultation in that section of the state's project, and I have talked to the new minister about this," Cr Moore said.Other candidates seized on core council responsibilities, with independent councillor Yvonne Weldon saying the mayor was "missing in action" on waste management.
