Syrians are worried about the endless Israeli airstrikes that have hit the country, our international affairs editor Dominic Waghorn reports from the capital Damascus.Syrians are 'elated by the fall of the Assad regime', he says, but they are 'concerned about the possibility of an extremist Islamist movement' taking control of the country.'What they are also worried about is the endless Israeli airstrikes,' he says.
'The Israelis say they are trying to neutralise the threat of chemical weapons falling into the hands of these extremist revolutionary groups in Syria.'But the Syrians we spoke to said they thought these weapons had been handed over in an international agreement with the Assad regime years ago.'They see this as a smokescreen for the Israelis trying to destabilise their post-revolutionary government.
