Matthew Mott says he "absolutely" wants to remain as England's white-ball coach following their semi-final exit at the T20 World Cup.It comes on the back of England meekly surrendering their 50-over world title in India last year, while at this tournament they made the last four despite losing three of seven matches.
"You don't get any prizes for getting in a semi-final but also you get a lot out of it," Australian Mott told the BBC."We've made a semi final. It's not where we want to be, but it's not a disaster either."Mott was appointed in June 2022 and led England to the T20 World Cup title in Australia later that year.
At last year's World Cup, England lost six of nine matches and this year their only win over a Test-playing nation was against West Indies."We weren't quite at our best this tournament and the result probably reflects that," Mott said. "But there's still a hell of a lot of positivity in our group. "I absolutely love what I do. I'm incredibly fortunate to be around such talented people, both players and staff.Mott backed captain Jos Buttler, who also led England in their 2022 win and the past two tournaments.
"Given some of the adversity we faced I was absolutely pumped with Jos’ leadership throughout," added Mott. Can film and TV storylines lead to changing the law?'Ill feeling and mediocrity but rays of hope from elsewhere'
