TACLOBAN CITY – Work in government offices and classes in public and private schools in parts of Leyte province have been suspended for the 11th anniversary of super typhoon “Yolanda” (Haiyan) on Friday, Nov. 8.

TACLOBAN CITY – Work in government offices and classes in public and private schools in parts of Leyte province have been suspended for the 11th anniversary of super typhoon “Yolanda” on Friday, Nov. 8.Mayor Alfred Romualdez here issued an executive order suspending work and classes to provide opportunity to the public to participate in the series of activities prepared by the city government starting Nov. 7 when a mass will be held at the Anibong Shipwreck.

Tacloban City Tourism Operations officer-in-charge Maria Lumen Tabao urged the people who will not be able to join the activities to light candles in their homes to remember those who have perished during the onslaught of Yolanda. “Let us show that the candles are not only symbols of prayers but a symbol of hope that we can carry on and build back better,” she said.

Meanwhile, the municipalities of Palo, Tanauan, and Tolosa, which were also heavily devastated by the typhoon, also suspended work and classes on all levels in anticipation of the influx of survivors, volunteers, and donors. There is currently no confirmation regarding the dignitaries expected to attend the activities.
