A Tacoma woman blew out candles in celebration of her 106th birthday on Friday.
Tina Gerlack , born in 1918, told KOMO News one of her keys to longevity is sticking to her daily routine .
Gerlack continued to note that she eats just one meal a day at 11:30 a.m. She also said she makes sure that her garbage is always taken out. On top of that, she makes a concerted effort to stay on top of her health, keeping track of her doctor, hair, and nail appointments. Before Gerlack retired, she worked as a waitress in Tacoma. Even at 106, she still feels the same enthusiasm when it comes to working.Some of her tips for living a long and healthy life include the following:When asked how exactly she's made it to age 106, Gerlack told KOMO News the following:
Work hard, pay your bills, and when you're done for the day, ask your boss, 'Is there something more you want me to do?' And if they say, 'No, you did a good job, just say okay.' Lastly, I would just say be nice, be nice, because you can't take your money with you. And even being nice doesn't cost any money.
