Tammy Murphy dropped out of the New Jersey Senate race
In a video statement posted on X Sunday afternoon, Murphy said that she was dropping out in order to avoid a “divisive” primary and ensure a Democratic victory. Murphy’s dropping out clears the way for Rep.“After many busy, invigorating, and yes, challenging months, I am suspending my Senate campaign today,” she said. “I have been genuine and factual throughout.
Menendez, who has held his position in the Senate since 2006, faces a slew of criminal indictments on corruption charges. The New Jersey senator announced Thursday he will not run for reelection in the Democratic primary, but left the door open to run as an “independent Democrat in the general election.”
