Tan addict refused a mortgage after spending £300 a month on illegal injections
A TANNING addict says he has been refused a mortgage after blowing £300 a month on illegal tanning injections in a bid to stay permanently bronzed.
"Because I am a public figure and because of the tanning injections they have declined my application."The sale of Melanotan injections is illegal in the UK but thousands of people are believed to risk purchasing them from abroad online. The injections are said to have triggered changes in the appearance of moles, a sign of potential skin cancer.
"Having a constant tan makes me feel so much more confident in myself, the tan never fades and I always feels healthier with a glow. There are an estimated 7,000 tanning salons in Britain, with some offering sessions from as little as 50p a minute. This is because sunbeds pelt the skin with such strong UV rays which increase the risk of developing malignant melanoma - the most serious form of skin cancer.
