The rising cost of living does not stop there with council tax, water rates, broadband and phone bills all set to surge, adding hundreds to annual expenditure from April 1. Research, carried out by the Local Government Information Unit think-tank , found 97 percent of councils plan to increase council tax in 2019-20. With 75 percent of local authorities intending to implement a price increase of more than 2.5 percent.
