Following memorable outings at the US Open, paparazzi-laden dinners in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and Swift's attendance at the Chiefs home opener in Kansas City, it was expected that the pair would venture out to UBS Arena for the MTV Video Music Awards to celebrate another year of multiple nominations for Swift.
” It would have been the first time that Swift has taken a boyfriend as a date to an awards show celebrating her accomplishments — though, she did attend the 2019 Golden Globes with Joe Alwyn. During the VMAs, all eyes were naturally on Swift as she danced along, as she is famous to do, to performers like Katy Perry, Karol G, Sabrina Carpenter, and Eminem.
