A Northampton primary school teacher is due in court tomorrow, , charged with murdering of her boyfriend whose body was discovered in her back garden. Fiona Beal pleaded not guilty to the charge at Northampton Crown Court last month.
Fiona Beal, 48, Mr Billingham's long-time girlfriend, was arrested 200 miles away at a hotel in Cumbria in March – the same day Northamptonshire Police began conducting an extensive search of her home. She was later charged with murder.Forensic officers and specialist search teams, including a cadaver dog, were deployed to the couple's house before Mr Billingham's body was discovered four days later. The builder's body had to be identified through his dental records.
At her plea hearing at Northampton Crown Court on Friday, August 12, Beal spoke only to confirm her name and her not guilty plea during a short hearing. Judge Adrienne Lucking told her: "I am going to adjourn this case now to September 6", before remanding her in custody.
