Hope UK is relaunching a programme to teach Year 6 pupils about drugs, to help kids make the right choices if offered something illegal.

A charity is running a drug education scheme for primary school children to help children make the right decision if they're offered something illegal. Hope UK – based in Kettering, Northamptonshire – launched the scheme last year with the aim of teaching Year 6 pupils key topics including drug awareness, first aid, and healthy eating. This summer it will expand, with the original schools and two new ones taking part.

She also said the project aims to ‘open their eyes to different things that become important as they grow up.’ Drug education in schools A survey carried out by the NHS in 2022 found that more than half of pupils in the country said they received lessons on smoking, alcohol and drugs during the last year.It also found that lessons peaked in Year 9 and that around half of the pupils thought their school gave them enough information about each topic.

Police officers around the country arrested kids for allegedly dealing drugs including heroin, cocaine, cannabis, and amphetamine.
