Jemma Reekie welcomed the investment by Renfrewshire Council and her home club, Kilbarchan Amateur Athletics Club (AAC).
Olympic middle distance runner Jemma Reekie – who counts Kilbarchan Amateur Athletics Club as her home club in Scotland – has praised the investment in the local area.
Jemma told the Paisley Daily Express: “I started training at the track at ON-X as an 11-year-old and, with the assistance of the club and my coaches, I have become one of the leading middle distance runners in the world, including competing for Team GB at the last three Olympic Games. There is also a dedicated St Mirren section that will follow every kick of the ball with the Buddies.“It is great to see the investment by Renfrewshire Council and Kilbarchan AAC in the facility and I look forward to training at Linwood when I return to Scotland.”
The new track is part of a significant investment by Renfrewshire Council in its sports facilities with new tennis courts installed in three parks.
