FIFA 23 drop Premier League Team of the Season nominees with some surprising choices
There was recognition for Kaoru Mitoma, Ollie Watkins and Palhinha following breakout Premier League seasons.
However, there was also notable absentees, with De Gea not chosen as one of the five goalkeepers available despite leading the clean sheet standings on 14 this season.Instead there is room for his Spanish compatriot Kepa Arrizabalaga, who only has half his tally for 11th placed Chelsea and did not even play for eight of the club’s 31 games.
Kepa’s Blues teammate Kai Havertz is another surprise inclusion among the forwards, having managed just seven league goals, while Brentford’s Ivan Toney is currently on 18 and has failed to make the cut.in February but Bruno Fernandes, who has created the most chances from open play in the Premier League this season, is absent.
And even Pep Guardiola would raise an eyebrow at which of his Manchester City contingent were put up for the award.
