A curfew has been set for one Paris region town, as violent riots triggered by the police shooting death of a teenager are set to continue.

On Tuesday, French police fatally shot 17-year-old Nahel during a traffic stop after the teen ran a red light.Thousands have marched and rioted all over France in response to the shooting, leading to clashes with police.

It cited "the risk of new public order disturbances" for the decision, after two nights of urban unrest. Nanterre prosecutor Pascal Prache said officers tried to stop Nahel because he looked so young and was driving a Mercedes with Polish license plates in a bus lane. The shooting captured on video shocked the country and stirred up long-simmering tensions between police and young people in housing projects and other disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
