Tears of the Kingdom is one of the biggest games of the year and will likely be one of the biggest games for the foreseeable future. While players’ love for the latest entry in the Zelda series knows no bounds, one fan has taken it upon themselves to recreate the Great Sky Islands in Minecraft.
What better way to mark the success of a major game than by immortalizing its world in blocky form via Minecraft? YouTube content creatornoted that after completing Tear of the Kingdom they were “instantly wondering what the Great Sky Island would look like in Minecraft”. Thanks to Grazzy’s countless hours of work we now also get to see what this might look like.
Surprisingly enough this build was a side project for the creator who is currently working on creating the entirety of Breath of the Wild’s world in Minecraft too. They had initially expected to finish the project on June 15 but the overall scale of the project ended up taking Grazzy over a month longer to complete. They noted that the build was, “longer, harder and more painful than [they] first thought”.
Starting small with the Room of Awakening and later moving on to the entire area, the project truly is a huge accomplishment, even in the world of stellar Minecraft builds. Grazzy doesn’t appear to be taking any breaks after completing the Tears of the Kingdom project as they’ve noted they’re heading back to the previously mentioned Breath of the Wild build. They’ll be focusing on building out the Hebra region which includes Rito village and the Divine Beast Vah Medoh.
