TeeJuh Behavioral Programs and Counseling Services is hosting an Open House event at the JP Jones Center

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Behavioral health issues are an ongoing problem for Interior Alaska, especially among communities that have trouble accessing reliable care. A project from Dot Lake Village, TeeJuh Behavioral Programs and Counseling Services, is working to fill the gap with free, remote counseling programs - and they are coming to Fairbanks.

TeeJuh began in 2020 with founder and president Tracy Charles-Smith, who saw the local problems with substance abuse and the lack of accessibility to resources. The project is funded by grants which make it possible for them to offer services for free. “I really hope people take away that there are services available to those that feel like they don’t have the accessibility to reach them,” McElhenney emphasized, “they don’t, you know, have the ability to drive somewhere and have other options.”
