Teen found guilty of murdering mum-of-two and burying her in shallow grave
A 17-YEAR-OLD has today been found guilty of murdering mum-of-two teaching assistant Lindsay Birbeck.
Jurors took less than three hours to unanimously find the 17-year-old intended to kill or severely injure the mum-of-two on the Coppice in Accrington.The youth, appearing on video link, did not react when the foreman read out the verdicts.The teenager had pleaded guilty to assisting in the disposal of her body but claimed he played no role in her death.The defendant cannot yet be identified due to reporting restrictions in the case.
The youth, with the support of an intermediary, was interviewed 11 times over three days and answered "no comment to all questions".
