Nineteen-year-old had hit one officer with a bottle on the head and punched the other on the head.

Sean Marshall, of Donaldson Place, Cambusbarron, hit one officer on the head with a bottle and punched the other on the head. The attacks took place on March 12, 2021.

He struck one officer on the head with a bottle - and repeatedly punched the other officer on the head, struggled with him, causing him to fall to the ground, before placing his arms around his neck and compressing it. When Marshall appeared for sentence at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday his lawyer Virgil Crawford told Sheriff Keith O’Mahony that his client had appeared as a first offender on the matter before the court. However, there had since been other “significant matters”.A Community Payback Order comprising 12 months’ supervision had been imposed on a sheriff and jury level assault charge to which Marshall had pleaded guilty, Mr Crawford pointed out. There was also an outstanding High Court matter.

Sheriff O’Mahony noted that Marshall was receiving support with the existing CPO and told him he was “not going to jeopardise how you are doing with that.” He deferred sentence until November 29 for a supplementary criminal justice social work report and ordered him to appear on that date, saying: “The final sentence depends on how you comply with the existing order.”
