Felicia Dawkins gained viral fame for her role as The Unknown in the disastrous Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience. Despite the event's shortcomings, Dawkins remains committed to her education and dreams of becoming a professional actor.
The teenage actress who made global headlines for her role in the infamously botched Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience has revealed she still plans to finish her schooling despite her viral success. Felicia Dawkins, 17, became an overnight hit across social media in February earlier this year for her portrayal as The Unknown, an 'alternative' character added to the disastrous and unlicensed nod to Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The role saw Ms Dawkins appear as a mysterious masked figure who scared children attending the calamitous event. Her character was an attempt at further dramatising the Wonka story, with The Unknown supposed to be an evil rival chocolate maker who was said to live inside walls and appear from behind mirrors to frighten visitors. Originally marketed as an immersive experience into the universe of Willy Wonka, the event ended up missing the mark to such a degree that it featured in international outlets such as CNN and the New York Times. Visitors paid anywhere up to £35 per ticket but were left shocked when the confectionary-themed wonderland they had been promised was in reality a sparsely decorated Glasgow warehouse in which they were served half cups of lemonade and rations of jellybeans. Parents were so furious at the standard of the experience that refunds were demanded and police were called to the scene, with one actor at the event being quoted by Wired as saying 'the threat of violence had become quite high'. Ms Dawkins, who has aspirations of becoming a full-time professional actor, has now revealed that she too knew the event would be a disaster from the moment she showed up at the warehouse the day prior to its opening
