The 16-year-old Brunswick girl, who was sitting in the back seat of the Alfa Romeo, was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition but died on Wednesday.Her 53-year-old mother suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Alfred Hospital in a stable condition, while her father, 61, was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with chest pain in a stable condition.
The two pedestrians — a 42-year-old man and a 40-year-old man — were both hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses rushed to help those injured but as they were pulling them from the wreckage several of the bystanders also performed a citizen’s arrest on the driver of the Volkswagen.
The 40-year-old driver from Essendon was pinned down by several bystanders while waiting for police to arrive.Essendon man Gulet Ahmed, 40, was on Sunday charged with negligently causing serious injury, dangerous driving causing serious injury and possessing methamphetamine.
