The 17-year-old appeared at court on New Year's Day following the death of Noah Smedley
A teenager has appeared in court after being charged with the murder of a young man in Ilkeston . Noah Smedley, 18, suffered a stab wound and died in the Heanor Road area of the town at around 9pm on Saturday, December 28.
A 17-year-old boy who has been charged with murder, and cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 1. He was remanded to a secure unit and will next appear at Derby Crown Court on Friday, January 3. Reporting restrictions were imposed by the magistrate not to name him until he turns 18 or until removed by the crown court judge. Following his death, several friends shared Derbyshire Police's appeals for information on the stabbing along with their own tributes to Noah.
One friend wrote on Facebook: "Fly high - gone way too soon. Loved and missed by everyone. My heart goes out to your family. RIP Noah Smedley." Another wrote: "Rest in peace Noah Smedley. Gone too soon, you'll be missed by everyone, funniest person I knew." Another friend added: "Noah Smedley RIP. Rest easy mate, will be missed."
