Axel Rudakubana, 18, pleaded guilty to the murders of three young girls during a dance class in Southport. He also admitted to attempted murder charges against eight children and two adults. The incident, which involved a kitchen knife and potential ricin production, has shaken the Merseyside region. Rudakubana faces a life sentence.

This is the face of the teenager who committed one of the most horrific crimes in Merseyside's history. Axel Rudakubana today admitted the murders of Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Alice Da Silva Aguiar during the Southport stabbings . The 18-year-old, of Banks in West Lancashire, changed his pleas to guilty on Monday, the day he was due to go on trial at Liverpool Crown Court .

Wearing a grey prison issue tracksuit and with a blue medical face mask covering his mouth, Rudakubana refused to stand or speak his name while surrounded by four dock officers and accompanied by an intermediary. But his counsel Stanley Reiz KC asked for the indictment to be put to the defendant once more, at which stage the teen remained seated as he pleaded guilty to all charges. He will now be sentenced at the same court on Thursday this week.
