Teenager attacked as Leeds police cordon off Co-op
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the scene at 2.12pm today after the assault took place just outside the Co-op and Windmill Health Centre.
Police have confirmed that the victim has been taken to hospital for a wound to the hand and treatment for other non-life threatening injuries.A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called at 2.12pm today to reports that a teenage victim had been assaulted on Swarcliffe Avenue, Leeds.
"The victim has been taken to hospital with a wound to the hand and other superficial injuries. None of the injuries are understood to be life threatening or life changing. Police are at the scene and conducting enquiries." Three officers are still on scene as the area between the Co-op, Lloyds Pharmacy and health centre remains cornered off. The incident has raised alarm bells with local residents as many say it's a 'scary place to live'.
Witnesses to the incident are being urged to contact Leeds District CID via 101 Live Chat or by calling 101 quoting log 1001 of 21/05, as police search for information about the person responsible.
