A new investigation into the death of 17-year-old Omari Lovell Thomas, who died in a motorbike crash in Chilwell, Nottinghamshire, has been launched. The inquest revealed a provisional cause of death as head injury.

A new investigation has been opened into the death of a Nottingham shire teenager following his death in a tragic motorbike crash . Omari Lovell Thomas was aged only 17 when he was involved in a motorbike crash late on October 21 on Field Lane, Chilwell . An inquest that was opened into his death on Friday, January 3, at Nottingham Coroner's Court revealed that a post-mortem investigation has been carried out into the teenager's death, which took place on October 22 at QMC.

A provisional cause of death has been established as head injury. Coroner Amanda Bewley told the hearing, which was attended by six members of Omari's family, that the boy was formally identified by his father. Ms Bewley said: 'I certify that in accordance to my statutory duty, I have now opened an inquest touching on the death of Omari Lovell Thomas. 'This hearing now stands adjourned for the completion of further inquiries and will be resumed for a final hearing on March 24, 2025, at 10am.' The coroner then extended her condolences to the family members. She said: 'Omari died such a short period of time ago and I can only imagine what an awful time you've had over the Christmas and New Year's period. To lose a family member so young in such tragic circumstances is just unthinkable. 'I wish to pass my condolences to you and all his family and friends whose lives he has touched and who will undoubtedly miss him.' A vigil was held in Omari's memory which was attended by numerous friends and family members on November 1 at the place of the accident. The event celebrated Omari's life with music from Gamrock Sound, V Rocket, Blacksquad, Nico D, Peter Parker and DJ Kyse, as well as food provided by Jamaica Jamaica
