A 19-year-old man was rushed to hospital after he was stabbed in the street in south Manchester , police have said. Police and paramedics were called to Wilmslow Road in Withington, Manchester , after a reported stabbing at around 6.20pm on Sunday evening. Greater Manchester Police said the teenager, who hasn't been named, suffered injuries 'not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing'. No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.
Police said they 'do not believe there is a threat to the wider community', although patrols have been stepped up in the run-up to Christmas across the area. In a statement, GMP said: 'At 6.20pm on Sunday, we were called to Wilmslow Road in Withington to reports that a man had been stabbed. Emergency services attended and a 19-year-old man was taken to hospital for further treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. No arrests have been made as of yet but enquiries remain ongoing to locate those responsible.' Detective Inspector Kelly, from South Manchester CID, said: 'We are currently piecing together the information available to us and our enquiries into how and why this happened are ongoing. 'With what we know so far, we do not believe that there is a threat to the wider community. However, we understand that an incident of this nature will understandably cause concern for local residents. 'Over the next couple of days, while officers work to establish a full timeline of events, there will be an increase of highly visible patrols in the area.
