Bricks and fireworks were allegedly launched in the direction of officers who had been called to the scene
Two teenagers have been arrested over alleged large-scale disorder in a Scots town. Police were scrambled to an address in Braehead, Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire, at 8pm on Thursday, March 16, after an alleged mob of around 200 surrounded the property.
At the time of the disturbance, one local claimed: "There was a mob of about 200 people. There were police cars everywhere and the helicopter was up with its searchlight on. It was really scary." Police patrols have since been stepped up in the area. Local Area Commander, Chief Inspector Ryan McMurdo said: “Around 8pm, we were called to reports of a large crowd gathering outside a house in Braehead. Unfortunately during the incident, some of those gathered became extremely hostile towards police.
“This type of disorder causes fear and alarm to residents and I would like to reassure the local community that our investigation is continuing to trace those involved. We have stepped up patrols in the area and anyone with concerns should speak to officers.
