Brad Perkins, a 30-year-old father from Telford, was handed a six-year driving ban and a suspended prison sentence after being convicted of drug-driving for the third time. Perkins was caught driving erratically while under the influence of cocaine. The court emphasized the seriousness of the offense, highlighting that a six-year ban is typically reserved for the most serious driving offences.

A BMW driver from Telford , Brad Perkins, found himself facing serious consequences after being caught under the influence of drugs for the third time. The 30-year-old father-of-two was sentenced to a four-month prison term, suspended for 18 months, and banned from driving for six years. Perkins's latest offense occurred on September 29th of last year when he was driving a BMW 1 Series erratically on the busy A442 road.

Police officers, noticing the speeding and erratic behavior, pulled Perkins over. A roadside drugs swipe test proved positive, leading to his arrest. A blood test revealed Perkins had 343 micrograms of benzoylecgonine, a cocaine byproduct, per litre of blood, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 50mcg. Perkins pleaded guilty to driving with a controlled drug above the specified limit. This marked his third conviction for drug-driving, with a previous offense occurring just last year. Perkins has reportedly sought help from Telford Stars, an addiction rehabilitation centre. The severity of the punishment, a six-year driving ban, is typically reserved for the most serious driving offenses, including dangerous driving. In a notable case last November, a Shropshire woman was disqualified from driving for five years for causing the death of a 23-year-old father of three through dangerous driving. Aside from the driving ban and suspended sentence, Perkins was also ordered to complete 12 rehabilitation activity days. He was further ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £154 victim surcharge, totaling £239. Payment for these fines is to be made at a rate of £5 per week
