Breaking: Telstra customers say they are unable to make or receive phone calls as the telecommunications provider confirmed it was working urgently to fix a widespread issue.

Telstra customers say they are unable to make or receive phone calls as the telecommunications provider confirmed it was working urgently to fix a widespread issue.

The outage was first reported on Monday night when some mobile customers reported problems with their service.“We’re sorry for the late-night hassle and our technicians are working urgently to fix the issue,” Telstra said on Monday. The outage continued into Tuesday morning and Telstra advised affected customers to try to make a data call using Wi-Fi instead. Triple zero and mobile data is not affected.

When asked how widespread the outage was or how many customers were affected, Telstra did not provide a figure. “If customers are experiencing issues we recommend they switch airplane mode on and off or try making a data call using Wi-Fi calling or other apps such as FaceTime,” a Telstra spokesperson said on Tuesday morning.More to come
