Scottish Water is seeking planning permission for the facility - which has led to a 'substantial' improvement in bathing water quality - to be used for another four summers.
The life-span of a temporary water treatment plant in Kippford, Dumfries and Galloway , is set to be extended.
And now Scottish Water is seeking planning permission for the plant to be used for the next four summers. The new treatment plant is needed to solve a long standing issue with water quality in the Urr Estuary, with the existing infrastructure unable to cope with the influx of tourists to Kippford over the summer months.
The supporting statement adds: “Consultation with the local community has been ongoing as potential options for the treatment of wastewater from Kippford are considered.
