Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho are set to meet next week but the road back for the Man Utd winger looks to be a long one now.
Almost five days on it remains the pinned post on Jadon Sancho’s X profile and has garnered more than 60 million views. If you’re reading this in the first place, you know what that is a reference to.
When his post landed on the platform formerly known as Twitter just an hour after Ten Hag’s press conference comment, it felt like an impulsive response. He had typed out what he wanted to say on the notes app on an Apple device and then taken a screenshot of it.But it doesn’t look as though Sancho has had any regrets or second thoughts about essentially accusing his manager of lying and claiming he was being made a “scapegoat”. If he had the post would surely have been deleted.
That means Sancho will be at United until January - provided an unlikely loan move to Turkey doesn't materialise in the next week - and when the first-team squad return to Carrington following the conclusion of the ongoing internationals, a conversation with Ten Hag cannot be avoided. It is over three-and-a-half months until the transfer window opens again, can Sancho be banished from the squad for all of that time? It would be a bold move.
To survive at the club, however, you sense Sancho will be the one that has to bend. He will need to show remorse to Ten Hag before trying to prove himself on the pitch.
