A ‘targeted attack’ on two electrical substations has left tens of thousands out of power in North Carolina.

About 36,000 customers are out of power after two substations in North Carolina were attacked with firearms

When power crews arrived at the substations, they found ‘extensive damage’ from gunfire, Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields stated.The attacker destroyed a wooden pole to get past a gate into one of the substations The FBI and the State Bureau of Investigation are assisting the county by securing the substations and investigating the shootings. Right now, authorities are investigating all possible leads.

At the press conference, Duke Energy representative Jeff Brooks said locals should be prepared for multiple days without power lasting most of this week,Duke Energy workers gather as they plan how to repair a crippled electrical substation that they said was hit by gunfire shows that about 33,000 customers were still out of power in Moore County as of Monday morning.
