The local Tenterfield man allegedly pointed a firearm at officers before he was shot. The town's mayor is asking for 'support and compassion' for the close-knit community.
An armed man walked into Tenterfield Police Station on Thursday night and allegedly pointed a firearm at police.abc.net.au/news/tenterfield-police-fatal-shooting-community-in-shock/101874862An internal NSW Police investigation is underway after officers shot an armed man from Tenterfield in northern New South Wales.Police and paramedics tried to revive the man but he died at the scene."It's just that sense of utter disbelief," she said.
"We are a small community, we have a small police force. We are a pretty close-knit community as most rural communities are. "There will need to be a lot of support and compassion for certain people in our community as a result." A comprehensive investigation process has been triggered, with a critical incident team of homicide detectives from the State Crime Command tasked to investigate the circumstances of the shooting, including the use of police firearms.
