Mum with months to live marries best friend so she doesn't die 'without a wedding day'
A mum-of-three with only months left to live has married her platonic best friend after telling her pal she didn't want to die without experiencing her 'wedding day'. Kerry Kenworthy, 34 was diagnosed with cervical cancer in September 2021 which returned in November 2022 and spread to her spine, Hull Live reports.
Sian, a teacher, also organised a hen weekend before the wedding where they had an afternoon tea with a group of their close pals. On Valentines Day 2023, the two best friends were 'married' at Gamlingay Eco Hub, South Cambridge with their five kids around them. "I'm not scared about dying, I'm scared about leaving my daughters behind.'' Sian, whose husband was her best man, said: "Kerry deserved to have a special day, and I wanted to help her.
The newlyweds are now trying to organise a trip away for their honeymoon through the help of GoFundMe donations. Mother-of-three Kerry said: "The whole wedding was magical. It was like a fairytale.
