Residents sent their thoughts and prayers to all those affected by today's major incident on Hart Street in Southport
Supermarket workers have been praised after they donated 'huge amounts of sandwiches and water' to emergency services following a horrific knife attack in Southport . At around 11.50am, police were called to a property on Hart Street to reports of a stabbing. The ECHO understands that at least one person - believed to be a child - has died , while possibly more than 10 others - both adults and children - have been taken to hospitals around the region with major traumas .
' A 17-year-old boy, from Banks, has been arrested in connection to the stabbing in Southport and remains in police custody and will be questioned about the incident, police said. A spokesperson for the force said enquiries are ongoing to establish the motive and urged people not to speculate while the investigation is ongoing. They also confirmed that the incident is not currently being treated as terror-related and detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
