Nearly every supermarket has increased the price of the staple product over recent weeks
Another two supermarkets have hiked the cost of a shopping essential in line with Aldi 's price match.
Now Lidl and Tesco have this week followed suit, with Tesco putting its Stockwell bags up to 94p for a box of 80 and Lidl increasing the price of its 240-box of Knightsbridge Red Label Tea Bags to £2.79.The change means Tesco now works out at £1.88 for 160, whereas Lidl is £1.86. Despite the rise, Lidl remains cheapest for the basket of essentials this week - costing £12.11 for tea bags, milk, bread, butter, coffee, beans, chicken and mince. Morrisons, with a bill of £12.37, is most expensive for the third consecutive week.
