It could be unsafe to eat
A warning has been issued by supermarket giant Tesco urging customers to return packets of a popular cheese product amid fears some items contain pieces of plastic. The retailer says the recall of packs of a particular grated cheese product is a 'precautionary measure'.
According to a 'product recall' notice published on the supermarket's websibe, packs of Tesco Creamfields Grated Cheddar 500g with a best before date reading 23/03/23 may contain "small pieces of clear, soft plastic which could make the product unsafe to eat". Issuing a 'do not eat' warning, the advice to customers who have purchased this product continued. Tesco wrote: "If you’ve bought an affected product, please don’t eat it. Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required."According to the Mirror, affected packs have already been pulled from store fridges. The Tesco notice reads: "We’re recalling one date code of Tesco Creamfields grated cheddar 500g.
Other product recalls from Tesco currently in force include Tesco Free From Golden Syrup Porridge 55g with a best before date of 01 September 2023, due to the possibility some packs "may contain milk". Customers who have bought the product who have "an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents" have been asked not to consume the product and return it to their nearest Tesco for a full refund.
