Tesco is to hike the price of its meal deal in a blow for shoppers, with the cost set to rise for the first time in four years
Tesco is set to increase the price of its popular meal deal from this Thursday , delivering a significant hit to shoppers' pockets.
While the standard meal deal sees a price increase, Tesco's premium meal deal, which includes Tesco Finest products and brands like itsu and YO! Sushi, remains at £5 with a Clubcard or £5.50 without. Tesco has revealed that its most popular lunchtime meal deal consists of a Sausage, Bacon and Egg triple sandwich, a packet of McCoys Flame Grilled Steak crisps and a bottle of Coca-Cola. When bought separately, these items would cost £6.20, offering Clubcard members a saving of £2.60.
At Asda, the cheapest item out of a main, snack and drink is given free as part of their meal deal. Boots offers its meal deal at £3.99 for all stores outside of London, or £3.60 with an Advantage card.
