Great news for shoppers
Tesco is trialling a change to its Clubcard & Grocery app which will let customers get coupons three times more often from this Christmas. Over four million people who use the app will now receive personalised coupons every two weeks - rather than a maximum of eight times a year at present.
Tesco's Clubcard is very popular with shoppers, who use it to save money on their groceries. It awards points to people based on how much money they spend, which can then be turned into vouchers, and there are also certain discounts that only Clubcard customers can get.Shoppers will soon need to download the Clubcard & Grocery app. This is different to the old Clubcard app, which will be closing in 2023.
Tesco chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini said: "Our customers love the way their Clubcard helps them save money on their shopping whilst earning Clubcard points to put towards those little treats like days out and restaurant meals, or to help lower the cost of their groceries and fuel." It comes as food banks brace for their most challenging winter ever, amid soaring prices. Food inflation hit 12.4% in November, according to new figures from the British Retail Consortium , the highest rate since BRC records began. That's up from 11.6% in October and 7.4% higher than last November.
