A number of long-standing stores are closing their doors for the final time
Marks and Spencer along with Tesco are one of a number of retailers gearing up to bid farewell to some of their brick-and-mortar shops. Boots have lined up alongside other retail titans such as Clinton Cards, Poundland, Robert Dyas, WHSmith and Wetherspoons, disclosing a wave of store closures throughout Britain.
Tesco fans will have to say their goodbyes to the town centre store in Chippenham, Wiltshire, as it's set to seal its doors permanently come this Thursday, August 15. Yet, it's not all doom and gloom, as Tesco isn't abandoning the area completely, but rather downsizing to an Express format soon to pop up in the vicinity. There are "extensive renovation works" that are transforming the old Wilko's on Chippenham High Street into the new Tesco Express.
The M&S location in Redhill, Surrey, located within the Belfry Shopping Centre, will be closing its doors on Saturday, August 17. Although the branch enjoys a favourable four-star rating with 495 reviews on Google, where patrons commend the "helpful" and "accommodating" staff, it has not been spared in the latest strategic repositioning focusing on Foodhall offerings.
