The supermarket chain is trialling a new pilot scheme that will see shoppers charged an extra 10p.
Tesco has introduced a new trial that will see shoppers charged 10p extra for a specific item when in store.
As reported by The Mirror, the supermarket giant confirmed that it was testing out a new pilot scheme across some of its stores that sell its F&F clothing range. The rules mean that customers have the option of paying an extra 10p for a hanger, or leaving it behind to be reused. However, the trial has been met with a divided response from shoppers, with some taking to Reddit to complain. One shopper claimed they had been charged at their local Tesco and asked if others had experienced the same thing.
The Reddit user said: "So, was in Tesco today, got some swimming clothes for the kids and my wife got a dress. Went through the scan as you shop and paid, went to get the tags taken off and was told it's 10p for a clothes hanger or they could take it for us. Now I work at this store, and I've never heard of this. I've also never seen anything around the store or around the clothes section.
