Tesco sparks price war on shopping essential but is still second most expensive for basket of basics
We reported earlier this week how the supermarket had dropped the cost of milk for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
But it doesn't affect its overall position in our weekly comparison, where, with a bill of £12.30, it's still coming out as second most expensive for the eight items we've been tracking since last March. Over the last year we've seen prices soar at all the stores, so much so that the shopping basket of goods now costs £12 or more at every store except for Lidl - and that's not too far behind at £11.88.
