COLLEGE STATION — New Texas A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein sounds a lot like Bobby Petrino when talking projections for A&M’s offense. A year ago as the Aggies’ offensive coordinator, Petrino pledged he would “call plays for players,” aka abide by his longtime philosophy to “feed the studs” on A&M’s offense.
Five things to watch during Texas A&M spring practice For the first time since 1989, however, A&M has hired a defensive-minded coach in Mike Elko, after Dennis Franchione, Mike Sherman, Kevin Sumlin and Fisher all followed former A&M defensive coordinator R.C. Slocum as head coaches. That’s why Klein, hired by Elko from Kansas State to run the Aggies’ offense, likely will get the chance to do exactly that, no fishing lines attached.
