National Weather Service meteorologists issued an urgent warning that any animals or people outside during a strong Texas storm will be 'severely injured' on Monday morning.Texas has recently been struck by a wave of severe weather, including a deluge of rain that hit the state and prompted a surge of flood warnings. In Houston, the city received up to 6 inches of rain in the first week of May, more than an inch above the area's average rainfall for the month.

The NWS Austin/San Antonio posted on X, formerly Twitter, warning that the 'primary hazards' associated with the storm included 'very large hail up to 3 inches and damaging wind gusts.'NWS meteorologist Chris Morris told Newsweek that another storm could hit south of San Antonio later on Monday afternoon. That storm could be accompanied by tennis ball-sized hail. He said that reports of the baseball-sized hail reaching the ground have yet to come in.
